Cheri Col.Thankf You For SharingI just want to say thank you for sharing your story and I pray you continue growing because the world is yours! Your courage is admirable and because of your story, I hope that future adoptees can live in homes that acknowledge their past as part of their story, rather than hiding it. Homes that embrace their culture, celebrate it and educate themselves in it. And homes that acknowledge the pain adoptees feel, regardless of how loved they are by their adoptive families. As an adoptive mom, I want to give my son a loving home that embraces everything about who he is. Praying that our approach of complete openness and honesty leads him into a life of knowing exactly who he is... as our son AND the son of his biological family. Thank you!

"Fill-in mom"SighFrom the perspective of a foster-mom who loves her 2 girls, this breaks my heart, and angers me simultaneously. It's so hard putting in the time and the hugs— trying to manage the misplaced anger and their relationship with each other and missing their parents or dissappointment when their parents don't show up for visits, but you'll never be a "real mom." It's so hard answering questions about their parents without throwing shade. It's so hard being the one who's there for them day in and day out but not being mommy. My mom didn't love me more than her next drink, which killed her when I was 12 and now I'll never have a mother-daughter relationship because my kids will always cling to the idea of the mom who couldn't give up drugs to be with them. Listening to this I hope to gain some perspective on how to at least make their lives somewhat comfortable and give them hope for the bright future they deserve..

7thDuchessI hear youIf noone has said this to you, I’m so sorry this happened to you and NONE OF IT WAS YOUR FAULT. I hear your anger and it’s heartbreaking because while now you’re an adult, I still hear that child, that baby, that didn’t ask for any of this. I’m going to share this podcast in hopes that it opens the eyes of us all and in this new land of crowd sourcing, foster care should be OUR new battle. Protect those who can’t protect theirselves.
