I need to hear God's words of forgiveness put into my ears, and these sermons deliver exactly that. I am forgiven on account of Christ, and His forgiveness is for me. Keep up this wonderful gift to us who need it.

I found 1517 a few years ago through a recommendation for the Thinking Fellows podcast, and from there I have gone through almost all of the podcasts on this network and backlogging through them to get all of the wonderful content that they have put out. I graduated from a Lutheran institution a few years ago and was a bit burnt out on my faith, but I can honestly say that these podcasts have been the main reason why my faith has been revitalized and has become even stronger these past few years. I have found myself being reintroduced to topics I learned in my schooling as well as hearing new views and opinions about Lutheranism as well as Christianity in general, which has been super helpful in expanding my view on my faith and how I approach my faith in a practical way. They have a wide range of topics that are covered as well as a good variety that allows you to find something good to listen to no matter your background or knowledge base in theology. Definitely do yourself a favor and listen to some of the other podcasts on this network if you haven’t yet.

The moralistic therapeutic deism that pervades the landscape of American Christianity tells us that the good news of Jesus Christ crucified for the forgiveness of sins is a message intended for unbelievers only. Not so. Hearing and believing that you are freely forgiven on account of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, for you, by no works or merit of your own, is not only what saves us from God’s wrath, it is what sustains us as believers. It is our manna, our daily bread. This is what St. Paul teaches when he writes: 1 Corinthians 15:1-2 (NASB) 1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. These podcast guys understand this and faithfully proclaim the good news that you are forgiven! Depart in peace! A fantastic podcast!
