    HSP as a superpower episode
This was the most complete explanation of the context around being an HSP that I’ve found to date. I am an HSP and it’s an ongoing process to understand and accept myself. Hearing Tony’s examples and explanations of the HSP experience for both HSPs and non HSPs was clarifying and validating for me and my non-HSP partner. Thank you!

    Weekly therapy nuggets
I’m so grateful to live in a time of information and for the technology to give professionals like Tony a platform to teach people like me. I have learned so much about myself and about the relationships in my life and has helped me navigate some difficult situations from the topics of discussion on the virtual couch podcast. Thank you for being vulnerable in your teaching quest to help me feel validated in my own human experiences.

    Love your show
I was torn hearing your characterization of 12 steps programs . If you work a spiritual program how is that reinforcing shame . I ve been listening to you for a long time . Your podcast is an element in my recovery. Truly hurt and disappointed today .

Whether you are a beginner in the therapy/psychology realm or a pro, this podcast will teach you something new everytime! “Wow, that makes so much sense.” “Oh my gosh I’ve never thought about it that way.” And “that makes me feel so much better” are all phrases that will run through your head when you listen to Tony’s podcast!

    Complete game changer
I listen to everything I can find with Tony Overbay in it! He gives so much information - it has opened my eyes to better ways to look at situations life can throw at you & how to handle them. I’ve listened to quite a few episodes a few times to keep the ideas fresh in my mind. I like the way he explains things, with understanding and realistic expectations/outcomes. He has helped me become a better me - well, helped me on my journey to find myself :) I recommend his podcasts to as many people I can. So many pearls of wisdom in these suckers!

    Nonviolent Communication
I have been following Tony for over a year. This episode Waving The White Flag Against Violent Communication has turned on so many lightbulbs. The puzzle is filling in. Things that didn’t make sense are now making sense! I feel a little less crazy. Thank you Tony for continuing to dive deep into these topics. -T

    October 26 2022 episode
Dr Tony - please please please Would you stop talking so much when you interview a guest? YOU WANT US TO HEAR & UNDERSTAND THE VALUE of the guest yet you are distracting to us your audience because you always have points you need to interject. We are all human , you don’t realize how you are received on a podcast . Would you please understand what you are good at & have that in mind before the podcast and in your control and recognize it …. Honestly you could wrap up the show with your spoken passion & that will be enough.

    Very helpful
I appreciate the topics Tony chooses to address in his podcast. I learn so much from each episode. I often look up the books and articles he mentions and have read some of them when I want to learn more. Thank you so much, Tony, for your work on this podcast. It is helping me as a graduate student in mental health counseling.

    Not a fan
Sorry Tony, I want to like your podcast but you’re just too annoying. I can tell you have a massively unhealthy ego, you think you’re much more talented than you really are. You sound like a grad student trying to fit in with real pros. Your stupid snorting laugh thing is very off putting. I can tell you think you’re funny…you’re not. You come across as trying to be funny, but failing.

    Reads articles from Psychology Today
This guy literally reads articles with a little commentary thrown in (example #303) Read the article linked yourself and save yourself some time (not to mention anxiety because he talks so fast and is all over the place). Crazy making.

    Favorite Mental Health Podcast !
I love your podcast. I love learning about ACT therapy and have used it to help my daughter and it is a game changer. It makes so much sense! Thank you for explaining it so well that I can put it into use!

    Great info just very rambling
Circles around, backtracks, fills in tangential background about himself, qualifies his qualifiers to an extent that it’s a challenge to follow the narrative. Frequently tells a long story to make a point that a single sentence would accomplish. Some great info, you just have to work to get it
  • ThankfulSonofGod
    So much good information.
I have been so inspired and helped by Tony’s points of view, approach, and empathetic words on his podcast. I listened to his latest episode “Why am I the last person to know what to do with life?” In this episode he talks about Religious OCD (Scrupulosity), and I felt a lot of compassion. I have struggled with religious OCD throughout my life, and it’s something I still strive to manage in a healthy way. I recently was on the Therapy Brothers Podcast with Brannon and Tyler Patrick to talk little bit about my story with scrupulosity. I have felt so alone with my struggle of feeling worthy and I have a hunch that so many others struggle with feeling good enough in regard to their religion as well and it is my hope that more of this awareness is brought to the surface. Thank you Tony!!

    Life changer!
I have spent years doing CBT but did not see the progress I wanted to, no matter how much I journaled and worked towards my goals. Finding ACT, and learning about it from Tony, is literally changing my world! I’m so excited to learn more and continue down this path!! Thank you Tony!!

    One of My Favorites!
Tony is so real and relatable - without making you feel judged. I love this podcast! Tony’s openness about his own struggle with ADHD changed my life. Hearing his story was an “AHA” moment that helped me get my own diagnosis. Truly life changing! Thanks, Tony!

    Personal Growth
Every week I’m excited to listen to Tony’s podcast! I got a coworker to listen to him too. Every weekend we work together we end up discussing different things we learned in his podcast. It’s very uplifting and helps me to find the things I want to work on in myself. How I would react to different situations and being able to step back from a thought and say “hey, I hear you”. Thank you for all you share Tony. You have been a blessing in many peoples lives (specifically my own). I have become a major fan of mindfulness and your wealth of knowledge on pornography has helped me and my husband in our relationship. Thank you Tony! I owe a lot to you!

    Great Interviewer. Great Guests!
Super podcast. Tony is a terrific interviewer who knows how to bring out the best in his guests. Absolutely loved the perfectionism podcast with Monica Parker. So related to the struggle to accept being mediocre - and how all that ties into an eating disorder, which I struggled with for a long time. Thank you.
  • jaforster
    So grateful!!
I’m so grateful for the wealth of information and experience Tony is willing to share on his podcast! As a new counselor, I’m assessing a variety of theoretical approaches and appreciate how open and honest Tony is and the richness of the information shared by he and his guests. His pace is excellent, allowing time to thoughtfully discuss ideas without being too wordy or chit chatty. Thank you for providing thus resource!

The best podcast you'll ever listen to!
I LOVE this podcast. It's the first podcast I ever listened to. Tony is so interesting, he's captivating and informative. I know Tony and I love his personality and when I listen to his podcast I love that he's real and he doesn't hide it. You don't ever feel bored learning and listening. I wish I had time to listen all day long. I have learned so much and he makes me want to be a better person every time I listen. I would recommend this podcast to everyone. There's something here for each person to better themselves. Thank you Tony!

    I’m a fan!
I’m a therapist and someone who struggles with anxiety and depression. The podcast helps me so much personally and professionally! I’m always excited when there is a new episode! I hope someday he does an episode about Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) ;)! Thanks for being you Tony!

Tony’s conscious of time...info is concentrated
Too many podcasts seem to waste SO much time by using “verbal fillers”...Tony’s pace is a little quicker and he uses his words wisely and makes his points in much less time!

Tony is so kind to share his expertise. I’ve learned so much listening to him!

    Great podcast
I enjoy listening to Tony and he has such excellent perspective and knowledge. The only reason I didn’t rate this a 5 was because the introductions tend to be very long before he gets into the topic that is being discussed.

My Brotha from a Different Motha!
Tony is the most grounded and attuned podcaster I have ever heard. I love your care for and knowledge of EFT and ACT. Those are my two modalities before even finding his podcast. So it feels like I’m home when I spend some time with Tony and the Virtual Couch. Kelly Stohl, LCSW

    Great counsel!
I feel like this is free counseling. And it’s fun and down to earth and applicable. Thanks so fun!

    Fan-girling out a bit
I recently emailed Tony requesting a link mentioned in his weekly email and he took the time to personally email me back. What?! I’m fangirling out because this person whom I hold in such high regard took the time to reply and thank me when it is I who should be thanking him. I’m a devoted Virtual Couch listener and on several occasions have found hope and comfort in his messages (and his snort-laugh). Tony’s perspective and caring insight have helped our family on this journey of trial, error, forgiveness and love. If your looking for high-quality content from an individual truly dedicated to helping you navigate life, then look no further than the Virtual Couch.

    One of my faves!
Virtual Couch is enjoyable to listen to and learn from! Interviews have great banter that has frequently brought a smile to my face or even a giggle. The conversation used in such topics dealing with mental health CAN be boring to listen to even tho mental health and the like topics IS such a fascinating subject. I have not found this podcast boring in any way, shape, or form. I’ve even found myself lingering in my car to allow the podcast to finish. I also feel this podcast is a great hammer assisting in breaking away the stigma that regularly comes with mental health issues. Thank you for that! That stigma needs to be demolished! Give this podcast a good listen and enjoy the knowledge gained.
