On the right track, stay retro!
I love the format and the discussion. I do think it can get a bit off topic, so you guys PLEASE don’t be afraid to make multiple episode/ parts of franchises if that means we get richer breakdowns. The episode length is perfect for details, so don’t stress to rush a week of 10 plus years if it means we get to explore the bits of highs and lows of a Franchise and learn more about them! Also it does feel like during some bits you guys really drop it on the prep work. You don’t have to be experts but at least make a clear attempt at getting it right. Honest mistakes are fine they happen but here it feels like Scot just ran with the wrong information and waits on chat to correct him if he gets to it. It looks bad on the prep work.

    Love the show
Recently just came across this podcast looking for some good retro talk and I’ve found a new fave. The structure of the show keeps me listening, Scott and Brian’s banter reminds me of listening to my uncles talk about these games back in the 90s. I’m sure it’s been said plenty of times before but Scott reminds me of a non eccentric Jeff goldblum. Oh also, with how much they talk about Diablo I’m surprised there hasn’t been a Diablo episode, but I’m still working through the back log

    Really enjoying it
I’m 36, not old, but not young either. But I wasn’t sure how I’d enjoy this show, because most of these games mentioned are before my time. (2023 edit- they move into snes and sega and even PlayStation games sometimes) But I have really enjoyed the work and time Brian and Scott have put in to give a history about not just the episode title game, but also what was happening around that time as well. I also really like the updates they give on getting back into retro gaming, like Brian updating his studio, and Scott building out an arcade machine. I thought I was going to miss Boop, but I honestly like this show better. Scott being Scott, knows how to polish a show to make it worth your time and this is an excellent addition to Frogpants Studios.

    Complete Bro—stalgia!
Found this show recently and found myself instantly binge’ing all previous episodes. Being an late 70s and 80s kid, Brian and Scott hit all my childhood feels! As a retro gamer myself, they get me…from Pong to PlayStation and Joust to Jak and Daxter….they just get me!

Great show! My favorite retro podcast
I don’t usually write reviews that refer to other reviews but in this case I must! I’m an aging gamer from a rural area, and I absolutely despise politics in my gaming podcasts. There are enough things in this world that divide everyone, there’s no need to add divisiveness to something that should be where people can come together over the love of a common interest. That said that is one of the reasons I love this show! They don’t seem to actively hate their audience. Comparing Scott and Brian to the Retronauts crew is like comparing a hot day in the Yukon to a hot day in Death Valley. Not even remotely similar. I have been a Frogpants listener for a very long time. I have no idea what Brian’s personal political preferences are and I love that. I know he loves the GameCube and Dreamcast though, and that’s all I need to know to know I respect that man’s opinions! Up until very recently I couldn’t have told you Scott’s political philosophy either, but Core has been ever so slightly dipping their toes in the political waters lately (except Jon). But even that isn’t abrasive, hateful or over the top. Scott and Brian have great chemistry, with enough differences and similarities in game preferences to keep the show interesting and entertaining. I have a great deal of respect for the entire Frogpants family, they all seem like genuinely good people. This is a great show. Don’t let the oddball review knocking politics scare you, this ISN’T one of “those” shows. Give it a shot, you won’t regret it. I never miss an episode

Better than Retronauts in both format and relatability
So, it has the same problem as Retronauts where one host (Brian) finds a way to work politics into nearly every show. However, Brian doesn’t do it as often as Bob Mackey AND overall Scott /Brian are more likable than Jeremy and Bob. So… 4 stars. Cut down on the shoehorning of politics and it’s 5 stars and I’d become a patron.

    Fantastic
Fantastic podcast that is very informative and entertaining regarding games of yore. If you at all care for retro games, give this one a shot.

    Subpar
The two host come off like a couple of old dads who haven’t played games in years. They seldom seem prepared for the weekly game(s) that they’re covering. The podcast never feels like there is much structure & the the host frequently get off topic. There are much better options out there regarding retro gaming.

    Excellent!!
Stumbled upon this podcast by accident and I’m sure glad I did!! After trying out a couple of episodes, this has become one of my new favorites!! It’s entertaining, informative, hilarious, and high quality. It’s exactly what I was looking for! Keep up the great work guys! 🙌🏽

The only podcasts I really listen to are retro gaming related, it’s nice to find one where I’m the same age as the hosts. People in their early 30’s shouldn’t be doing a retro gaming show and ps3 era games are far from retro. I’ve tried them all and this is one of three out there that I would consider truly great, but this is the only one that produces content on a regular basis. Scott and Brian are truly given to podcasting and I was happy to hear Scott is in the Salt Lake Valley like me! ‘Holy frick’ definitely gave it away;) good job guys well presented.

    more quality Frogpants
Yet another Frogpants Studios content that appeals to a different facet of entertainment. Even if it's a topic I'm mediocre on, they make it interesting.

    Great!
I really enjoyed the first episode on Joust. I recently got caught up on several other retro game podcasts that I subscribe to and needed to try something new. The hosts have great chemistry and humor and I appreciate that they have a unique perspective based on their history. I was literally just remembering playing joust on a friend’s DOS computer when I was a kid. Great to learn more. Also I guessed the Dig Dug 2 music !

    Play Retro is here!
A Frogpants retro gaming show? How has this not happened sooner? Let Scott snd Brian take you on a trip back to the golden age of arcades and early days of console games. This isn’t another show with snarky game collectors showing off their wares or click bait “top 10” lists, this is a love letter to the best classic games of yesteryear from people who grew up playing them in the day. “Guess the game” is a fun segment that will challenge your memory with audio clips of an old game, guess the title before it’s revealed! Stay a while…. Stay forever
Great throwback show about classic gaming from true gamers. They do some research and their passion for games shines through.

Another great show! Brings back a lot of arcade memories and playing Joust at the snack bar in town
    Keep it up!
  • Wujboy
    Sure to be quality!
Scott and Brian are a podcasting duo as classic as Jumpman and Donkey Kong. This show will surely be a hit!
