DLS0626What a puzzle! This sad story has so many twists and turns. It’s like a “who done it”?! So many suspects and yet nobody has been held responsible for Tom’s death. Such a tragedy for everyone involved. I’m not done listening to every episode yet; I hope there’s some resolution found for this family and town.

Paje_16Missing informationI was on the edge of my seat through this entire story. I am disappointed that they never talked about the grand jury. What happened? Why keep talking about the young man’s alleged use of adult incontinence briefs, which is the proper terminology, not diapers! As an adult who has to utilize incontinence briefs, it’s disrespectful to keep referring to them as diapers.

Eatfruit10Tore me up…I’ve consumed so many true crime podcasts in the last decade. Seldom do they emotionally impact me anymore. Tears came on often with this one. Skip’s storytelling, the music, the hard and confusing mystery all just punched me in the gut over and over.

VanwnbCanadian sounds awful!A very well produced podcast, as all Texas Monthly stories are. But, my god, what a judgmental group of people! That poor kid. Canadian does not sound a warm community at all.

AG_712515Texas Monthly Never Fails to DeliverStories told with grace and dignity that have a fierce poignancy that never fails to provide the true crime lover with a worthy binge.

LonghornG3First PodcastThere are several interesting stories here not the least of which is “Tom Browns Body”. You see, while I grew up in No. Va. my Mom was from East Texas, and every month on our coffee table was a fresh copy or Texas Monthly, which I read cover to cover. Wonderful publication. Next, my Sister-in-Law was in the movie industry an attended the Sundance film festival for many years, and her studio bid on Bernie, Skip’s film. So let’s move on! Tom Browns body was incredible in so many ways, and it was my first ever podcast. But I blew through all episodes in two days because it was so intriguing. Skip, the Texas Monthly Crew, producers, etc. we’re amazing. But the story is one you couldn’t make up if you tried. What do they say, “truth is stranger than fiction”. I can’t wait to hear the ultimate truth to this incredible story. All I can say is do yourself a favor and listen to this podcast, you’ll blow through all of the episodes like I did. To Skip, please release a bunch more. What a talent.!

captainhardassFantasticI could and would listen to Skip tell a story about paint drying. It just so happens this story is fascinating. Loved it. I'd give it 14 stars if I could.

Geronimo PNPFirst time listenerI’ve been a true crime buff for years and this was the first Texas Monthly podcast and it kept me in binge mode! What an interesting case with Skip doing a wonderful job of covering all angles! I highly recommend this show and I pray some closure can come to the people of Canadian, Tx and for Toms truth to set him free!

ESR1980Big fan of this podcasterI laughed out loud, I sobbed, I gasped. I did so many chores because I couldn’t stop listening to this at night. I hope Skip does more. There were several times I couldn’t tell if I was supposed to be laughing. Mostly at the private investigator. Skip did a stellar job staying neutral but also sending us a few unspoken winks. Amazing how good writing can do that.

techster21Like a Mystery NovelThis is so well done! Kudos to Skip and the Texas Monthly team for such an intriguing podcast. I thought I was listening to a Who Done It novel. He does a great job of putting it together and narrating the true story. I highly recommend it!

Dharma25ExcellentIntriguing podcast. The actions of Sheriff Nathan Lewis were suspicious from the beginning. He needs to be looked at again more thoroughly.
-
Financially FunctionableHooked! My son passed this along to me because he lives in Stephenville, attending TSU. I started listening and could not stop. I am done with both seasons when is the next one coming out. Great content, music and just gripping stories. Keep it up!
-
shebunleashedGreat reporting!First things first- the sheriff is definitely guilty of something. It might not be related to this case, but he was acting real shady the entire series. The host is clearly a seasoned journalist! I appreciated his ability to hold people accountable and ask the tough questions. I do think there was an excess of back and forth between Klein and Lewis that could have been cut, but all things considered I enjoyed the show!

NOLA Dateline FanOutstandingAnother outstanding podcast from Texas Monthly! I highly recommend you listen to this one!

milliercExcellent WorkNot every story have a perfect, happy ending. I appreciate the work that went into investigating Tim Brown’s death. Skip did an excellent job, continuing the search for answers for the family, community and listeners.
-
DpruseUnique story told wellI couldn’t stop listening! My only disappointment is towards the end it seemed like Skip was adding fuel to the rumor mills and kicking up painful emotions with Mom and Sheriff. Coming from a small town myself, I found that irritating and lacking compassion.

muffinloaf20My favorite podcastThis series is gripping and addictive. I will say no more, as to not give anything away.

Kevin MooreEpisodes out of order.Seriously? How have you not corrected the episode order? The podcast has been enjoyable thus far, however, the episodes being out of order really ruined the narratives flow and progression. Shame.
-
NikB0317Episode 6The thicket the first episode 8 is actually episode 6. Listen to that before episode 7.

Houston HolidayAmazingLoved this. Skip Hollandsworth is a master when it comes to telling a story. His factual account, in his soothing and beautiful voice, is almost a ballad and poetry. Loved the weaving of the Averitt Brothers melancholy music with the story. There were many times when I became tearful as the music intertwined with the story. Thank you. I always love any story told by Skip.

HousecleanerKWell told but no resolution!Unsolved mystery.

Roxi9020Engaging and addictive mysteryI just came across this series and was glad I am a little late so I could binge it all at once. I got through it in about a week. After everything I still do not have a strong opinion as to what happened to poor Tom. It is still a mystery. Hope we get answers soon and Tom gets justice one day IsA.

RealTurtlejayTom Browns ‘s BodyEpisode 6 is mislabeled as one of two Episodes 8. Make sure to listen to The Thicket between Episode 5 and Episode 7 as The Thicket is actually Episode 6
-
Jersey KingsTom Brown’s BodyGreat report. So sad that there is no closure. The girl that reported she overheard where Tom’s body was, was she ever asked who she heard talking about it? I listened to all episodes and I didn’t hear that that was ever disclosed. Was it?
-
TessiHenMissing episode?Where is Episode 6? It goes from 5 to 7??

StillWater1Top NotchExcellent reporting, pace, narration. No commercials. Highly recommended.

Karen M. M.Tom Browns BodyI love this podcast. Very well presented. When I started listening to it, I couldn't quit! I still have a lot of unanswered questions!
-
ksmeonxTom Browns BodyThis is a very fascinating mystery. Definitely one of my new faves!! I still think of this case daily and I have my suspicions about Penny and Tucker… so many dead ends and unknowns left on this one!! I was totally wrapped up in this. Thanks for your hard work putting this together.

Kimmiee_10New*Fresh*Professional*Don’t stop. Keep these stories coming. Insightful, forthcoming, unbiased, true-facts. Skip- you’ve found your niche. Please never stop. These truthful stories need the light you & other researchers/reporters shed on them to end what’s been covered by many for far too long. Ira Glass - watch out!
-
ReidawWorth every minute !This podcast very very intriguing. I feel so sad for the family. Its a suspicious story. Hope closure comes to them soon. Great work Skip!

I just want the colorsI love how this story was told.I feel like this was a true crime series told in a Garrison Keillor style. I LOVED it. The journalists draw you in with their description of the little Texas town and the people in it. You feel like you’re there and you know everyone in town. I’m heart broken for the family. The story is just tragic. It’s also such a head scratcher. One minute you’re sure it’s this and then the next episode you’re sure it isn’t. I can’t wait to listen to season 2!!
