    Too many commercials
The podcasts recently have been about 70% commercials. I love the content but either beef up the content of cur down on the commercials.

    Winner every time
I’m hooked! I’ve listened to 43 podcasts so far- many of them a number of times. Ken’s guests are insightful, delightful, and the whole experience is inspiring. This is my personal introduction to Broadway one guest at a time.

    Interesting,Informative Interviews
I’m a huge fan of musicals and love hearing Ken interview so many different people in the business. I randomly choose a podcast and find each one I’ve listened to more informative than I anticipate. Hearing the stories told from such a variety of people is fascinating and promotes podbinging!!

    Great content, spotty audio quality
I love the insights and guests Ken gets on the show. Some of the best content related to Theatre making and producing on the internet. He really knows how to get into the nooks and crannies of the business without feeling too wonky. He brings out incredible stories and perspectives from some of the most important folks in the business. However, it seems like more than half the interviews are conducted over Skype or a phone line, so the audio quality of many of the episodes is really bad. It's often impossible to listen to - especially if you are listening on the go in a noisy city. It often sounds like he's interviewing his guests from the bottom of the ocean. I wish he'd do all the interviews live with a mic to get the best sound.

    If one the sound quality....
Because the whole show sounds like it’s being done in a tunnel. For someone who is an accomplished “producer” one would think Mr. Davenport would be able to offer a higher quality production.

    The Best Broadway Podcast
Ken Davenport’s show is everything I was looking for in a theatre podcast. It provides business insight that makes it a must for theatre professionals of every discipline. Ken is a great host, letting his guests have the spotlight and share their experience and wisdom without to much interference or unnecessary commentary. The result is a great show that can benefit everyone who makes their living doing live theatre.

    The Best Broadway-Themed Podcast Around
A great listen! Both entertaining and informative. Here’s hoping Ken continues this podcast for years to come!

    So Helpful!
I find The Producer's Perspective to be an enlightening and educational asset! I am enjoying each one!

    Amazing insight
In addition to being a Tony-Award winning producer, Ken has an obvious passion to share insight, information, and knowledge with anyone who has a desire to hear it. What is not to love about this podcast??

    An invaluable Resource!
One of the best resources out there about the business of theatre.

    So much Info
Ken's podcasts are always stocked full of information. His programs are worthy of 5 stars. He's helped so many people and he just keeps doing it.

    Interview of Jerry Zaks
Jerry Zaks is a remarkable director and his references to developing a play are inspiring. He refers to the moment that a cast steps before an audience for the first time as going from... "make believe of the rehearsal room to reality." So we must never forget that engaging the audience in the first 10 minutes is the primary goal; if you don't, you lose them forever!

Poor audio quality and download problems
I’ve been listening to The Producer’s Perspective for over 2 years, and while the interviews are quite interesting, I’ve finally had it with the poor audio quality and having to wait several days for the download/stream to work properly. It’s particularly annoying in the car, since the non-working episodes require me to unlock the phone while driving to clear the error message before I can listen to anything else. I kept hoping these things would be fixed eventually, considering the number of reviews mentioning the same problems. (And whatever new microphone Ken got recently hasn’t helped much — part of the problem is at the encoding stage.)

    Entertaining, informative, inspiring
You don't have to be a wannabe producer to enjoy Ken Davenport's upbeat conversations with an impressive variety of industry players. If you are a theater fan, marketer, or just love a good success story, give Ken a listen. I got hooked on this because I love what Ken did for the beautiful little show 'Daddy Long Legs.' I'm no industry insider and haven't heard of most of the guests, but it doesn't matter. I always learn something. And for a refreshing experience in a jaded world, you can't beat Ken. He is so excited about what he does, and it's infectious! Audio is improved now, but it still could be clearer. It does sound like they talk in a bathroom:)

    the irony
IT is sad that this podcast is so poorly produced. the sound quality has been bad to terrible for much of the run of the show. a few episodes ago it started with a comment that the sound issues were resolved and they were as bad as ever. A second issue is that even tho the podcast shows up in my feedon Mondays, it doesn't download until many days later. IT has the little download icon on the right, that for any other podcast you click and it downloads, but this one does nothing. Every week. I don't own any apple products but since I subscribe to 30+ podcasts I use Itunes to aggregate them, copy them onto my mp3 player and mark what I have downloaded as played. The last couple episodes end up getting marked as played on Wednesday or Thursday before they get downloaded, tho literally everything else in my feed downloaded okay. It is like the podcast doesn't wish me to listen to it, or even have it in the first place

    You must know sound people
Great, informative podcast and you speak to so many cool people. Surely you must know sound people that could get you on the right track. Why won't you see your way to "producing" some better sound for yourself? Invest in yourself, buddy!
  • whiskyb
    audio quality is bananas
Whoever is recording this could certainly do a better job. The audio quality is the worst I've ever encountered on a posdcast.

    OUCH! MY EARS!
I LOVE this podcast, but my ears absolutely do not. Please get better equipment!

Content amazing but podcast rarely works
Amazing content, 80% of the time it says "it says podcast temporarily unavailable". Very frustrating.
  • mich!@v3lli
    Good Content, AWFUL Audio
The content here is solid but the audio is so bad it's nearly unlistenable. I find myself having to remove my headphones because of the reverb. You'd think this producer would know countless audio engineers.

    Always Great Content
This podcast always satisfies with it's interviews. I always look forward to the next one, however: the audio quality of the interviews is usually very lacking. It would be great if you can simply used a studio, or used a better quality microphone to capture these wonderful and insightful interviews.
  • Brittany Petruzzi
    Great content, crap audio
Ken. KEN. Your content is always fantastic, but PLEASE invest the less-than-$200 it will cost you to buy a decent mic or two. I literally cannot understand a word of your podcast unless I wear headphones, and even then it's EXHAUSTING to tease out the real audio from the futuristic-robot-monster echo factor. The moment you get some good mics (or sound mixing?), I'll upgrade this review to 5 stars.

    Love it!
Being outside NYC, Ken's podcast -- with its varied guests -- provides information and insight in the creation of theatre in New York that can be applied in any theatrical venue. Thanks, Ken for the effort you put into this free service. I love hearing from the composers, lyricists and Book-writers -- as that is my own milieu -- but the others that come into the podcast round out the spectrum of producing a musical (or a play). It's great information.

    The best podcast!
By far my favorite podcast! These exclusive interviews are the best insight into the Broadway biz! It doesn't get any better than this!
  • Carter Prescott
Content is terrific but the sound doesn't match
...and it just gets worse. I've been listening since the beginning, which is more than a year now. Please, please stop using Skype or whatever it is that makes it sound like you're talking in a tin can. It truly does get in the way of what is otherwise fantastic content from fantastic people.

    Fantastic podcast!
Ken Davenport is possibly the best theatrical interviewer today. Insightful questions with theatrical luminaries who do not usually get to share their experiences in the industry. Brava!

    The Gates Have Been Opened
Terrific insights from incredibly gifted people, most of all host Ken Davenport. This engaging podcast is such a gift to anyone interested in all aspects of the creation of musical theatre. Ken thinks way outside the box and it’s awesome.

What a privilege to have 45 uninterrupted minutes of insight and memories from a master … Davenport has a real knack for interviewing and bringing out his guests’ theatrical gifts to share.

    Awesome for aspiring writer
I know nothing about the business of theater.... But am working on a one man show. While my play is not bound for Broadway, I am learning so much from this podcast

    Great content, tech issues
Ken, please fix sound issues and downloading bugs! Other than that the content is the best you will find about the industry.

    Funky Downloads
Enjoy this podcast but i have one gripe. I often have weeks where there is an error message when i download and i can't get the episode. This happens and half to a thrid of the time. Please fix it

    One of my favorites!
I love this podcast. Insider stories, history, inspiration and professional advice worth its weight. Must-listen for anyone who wants to be a producer or elsewhere on the creative team.

    Brilliant!
This is the place to come for insightful and robust Broadway insider information! Ken has a wonderful manner with his guests; warm and engaging while still professional and productive… and just dishy enough to be fun without losing credibility. I love the array of guests from every aspect of the Broadway spectrum, from the spotlight to behind the scenes, to the front line in the house, out into the marketing ether, and beyond. Ken covers it all. I’ve read a few comments from people who aren’t happy with the sound quality, which varies from podcast to podcast depending on the location. For me, the variance in the sound quality and the little hiccups here and there (a siren in the background, laughter in the next office, a text coming in, a chair creaks, etc.) and the reverb which provides a sense of the size of the room, are all part of the podcast’s charm. It makes the podcast feel authentic and genuine, as if I were right there in the room. I love and actually look forward to all of these little acoustic “extras,” and frankly will be a little bit disappointed if Ken ever does shift to a slick, noise-free format. I would also like to remind the people complaining about the sound quality that the podcasts are free. ☺

    Please Improve Audio Quality
5 for content, 3 for sound quality! They always sound like they're recording in a bathroom! Plenty of podcasts that are more grass rootsy or lower budget sound better than this. Get a new microphone or record in a studio! Please! It's almost impossible to listen to these. You can do better, Ken.

    Thank you, Ken!
What a gift. I listened to a couple of the podcasts this morning, and was delighted with the information shared and the guests’ candor. Super questions and conversations. Looking forward to enjoying more!

I Will Never Miss An Episode
I feel like this is the podcast I have always wanted to hear. If you are interested in smart marketing, creative pursuits, theater gossip, or just smart thinking, take some time to enjoy Ken's conversations with the best in show business. Can't wait to see who's on next!

Behind those closed doors of Broadway
I’ll get my gripe out of the way early… I wish the sound quality was better. Ken seems to be traveling to different locations to get these interviews (which offers a host of problems, I know), but these days there’s no excuse. Thousands of podcasts out there with a professional sheen to them… why-oh-why can’t the Broadway podcast outshine them?! Besides that, I think this podcast is excellent. Ken has wisely sought out individuals who are passionate and smart, most of them are people we never seem to hear from. Drew Hodges, Rick Miramontez, and Nina Lannan have been standouts so far. Spend a few more bucks on production and keep ‘em coming, Ken!

What a fantastic podcast. For anyone interested in theatre or producing theatre or other live entertainment. Filled with funny anecdotes, tons of useful information and a gracious host. Thank you Ken Davenport for starting this. I’m looking forward to the next.

    Great Broadway Insight
Love this podcast! I'm a Broadway junkie with hopes of getting into the business side of the industry and I've learned a lot from and been entertained by these interviews. If you enjoy theatre you'll love getting this behind the scenes look at things. These are seriously high-profile interview subjects and Ken asks great questions.
  • spareben
    not just for Broadway fans
I believe everyone who enjoys the interview format will enjoy this podcast - the subjects are always fascinating (I confess I was unfamiliar with most of them) and Davenport is professional enough to allow the subjects to talk without too many interspersions. Ken has a remarkeable array of contacts in the entertainment business & I look forward to many more conversations.

    Standing O Worthy!
Love these podcasts. I listen faithfully every week. Where else can you find such a thorough history and variety of perspectives on the New York theater scene? Each podcast is crammed with stories and details and you-can't-make-this-up moments. I wish the sound quality was better (it did help with Todd Haimes to have the mike closer to him than to Ken) but sound quality won't take away from my five-star rating!
