I miss Trial By Content so deeply, but I’m so glad I can still listen to you guys elsewhere. Can’t wait to listen each week after The Last of Us!

Thanks for all the GoT times
I came back in for the last of us, not realizing I never actually submitted this review that from back in the Game of Thrones days! I was so sad about trial by Content being canceled abd I am so glad these two are back! I hope Joanna will be able to be a regular guest as well. As you can see from the years old post, I followed these guys for years and I highly recommend the podcast. After our watch has ended, I feel compelled to leave a review for a journey that got me deep into the GoT podcast world. This was my first Game of Thrones podcast and was like a gateway drug to Joanna‘s other podcasts of Cast of Kings and then in GoT’s final year tripling up and adding Vanity Fair. I got so addicted to the analysis of Game of Thrones I even joined the Patrion on for that Monday reaction episode in the last month. After all these years listening to you three it’s feels like I know you and that I am enjoying conversation with friends when I listen to your podcast. I seem to be in the minority where I did not enjoy Lost (maybe because I watched it after it was on), but I look forward to other off-season content and I thank you for the GoT journey you gave me. My anterior motive for leaving this review is to encourage you to consider another amazing book to tv adaptation as your next venture - Outlander! With that one the books are so far beyond the show that they shouldn’t have some of the pitfalls of Game of Thrones...think about it!

The Boys Are Back In Town!!
Thank goodness the boys are back! I was gutted when Trial By Content was cancelled. Now I can happily continue to respectfully listen to my podcast boyfriend Neil. Dave is great too! But my heart belongs to the sultry tones of one Neil Miller.

    Hooray! They’re back!
Love Dave and Neil‘s energy, glad they’re back in the SOS feed! Simultaneously, I’m conducting my ‘Lost +20’ anti-binge rewatch, re-watching every LOST episode exactly 20 years after the original air date and listening to SOS back catalogue. Yes it’ll take me through 2030 but it’s bringing me immense joy.

    Triumphantly Return!
Welcome Back! The joy of seeing this pod pop up in my feed helped the sadness of seeing your most excellent pod Trial by Content go. Completely enjoyed your rewatch of Lost which was like rewatching with a bunch of my nerdy Lost buddies from the 90s. I loved the first season of the Last of Us and not being a gamer I’m really looking forward to the augmented experience of the spoiler section. Love you guys and I hope Jo is able to jump in from time to time.

    What a great podcast!
Happy to see that Storm of Spoilers is back, even though it feels like it never really left. Thanks for so many years of great podcasting!

    So happy you are back!!
My favorite podcast! I’ve been listening almost every week since the early GOT days. Always my fav! I like this format better than the “trials” format. I was so worried I wouldn’t hear from you guys again (I’m not really up for patreon as I mostly listen in the gym) I think you guys could use some estrogen though … must be some one good who you guys could bring on board?!?? Any ways …. Very happy to see this on my feed!!!!

    THEY HAD TO GO BACK
This pod was my comfort over the last two years going over old eps, and now I get new ones!? Incredible.

    Hello, again!
What a lovely surprise to have this pop up. So happy Dave and Neil are back in my weekly feed. Yay!! I look forward to listening your insights about the Last of Us.

    Best podcasters ever!
I’ve been listening to Da7e and Neil for over 5 years across multiple pods and shows, and hands down this is the best podcasting team ever. Their analysis is deep and thoughtful and funny. You feel like you learned something after listening. I’m so, so incredibly hyped for the Last of Us s2 coverage, the s1 coverage was incredible on their Patreon.

The best hosts, great episode structure, amazing content
Love this and love the hosts. I have been listening for years because Dave and Neil (and Joanna) are some of the best podcasters in the business. They cover all of the best shows and bring expert and deep analysis. I will listen to them cover anything! Highly recommend!

    Sensitive Millennials
If only this podcast was as good as the show, just a bunch of woke folks who are way too sensitive. Bailed out 8 episodes in. This show and the characters have aged like fine wine.
  • modestmoz33
    The pain
You will never listen to a more precious, twee, overly sensitive podcast. I am firmly on the left and consider myself culturally sensitive, but my god, at least 30% of the Lost-focused podcast is devoted to litigating “non-white” representations peppered with apologies for the podcasters inabilities to adequately discuss those non-white characters. In short, this is not so much a Lost rewatch as it is chance for the podcasters to show how very sensitive they are to everyone about everything. Even the most PC among us, like myself, will have headaches from reflexive eye-rolling.

    Whatever happened, happened!
Four years late but still love this podcast! Recently finished rewatching Lost with my teen daughter (her first time through). She absolutely loved the show but the highlight of my week was listening to this podcast on car rides with her. Must-listen companion podcast to the show.

    Ooh!
I’m pretty young and just now discovered Lost on Netflix! (It stopped airing the year I was born! I’m tiny!) I love the show, but it’s a bit hard for me to understand sometimes. This podcast helps with that!

    Always a fun time
I started listening to the triumvirate of Joanne, Neil, and Dave in the Ringer Trials era, so I missed out on this podcast in its time. I recently decided to do a GOT rewatch so it was a pleasure to be able to go back and listen to this. I love their chemistry and banter, which combines with their knowledge of both storytelling and filmmaking to make a fantastic podcast. I’m leaving a review even though this is a dormant show because I truly enjoyed listening them read reviews. My consolation to the fact that I can’t hear this be read on the podcast is that I do not have a fun accent to read it in. Soon enough I will have to undertake a Lost rewatch so that I can listen to the rest.
  • iOrder66
    Christian Bashing
I randomly selected the episode that discusses the Season 5 finale and in less than 3 minutes, the hosts began bashing Christians. Hard pass…

    One of the All-Time Greats
If you enjoy podcasts with great pop culture insights and fantastic chemistry between hosts, this is the podcast for you! A wonderful companion to a Game of Thrones or Lost rewatch. This podcast helped me keep my sanity through the height of the pandemic, and I’m midway through a complete re-listen because they’re just perfect to have on in the background for daily tasks. Joanna, Dave, and Neil are my podcast dream team!

    Hard Pass
I gave this a 5-star review because that's what the hosts of this podcast ask for in order for your review to be read. (See their number of 5 star reviews) In truth, this is a mediocre podcast. I first watched Lost when it was on TV, and rewatched it a number of years ago, and recently bought the DVDs and rewatched some of my favorite episodes and scenes. I thought it would be fun to do a full re-watch while listening to a podcast to make the experience complete. Dave and Neil are pretty good, but Joanna needs to tone it down a TON. She brings high energy, but then uses that energy in a manner akin to a bull in a china shop. It's not that she talks too much. It's that she constantly interrupts, disagrees, and won't let something go until others agree with her. She has to be right, and anyone who disagrees must be wrong (as though opinions are binary). All three hosts, but especially Joanna, decry the season 1 "sexy" camera shots of women...like Kate in her underwear, Shannon getting a tan, or Sun in her bikini, but then spends the rest of season 1 openly commenting and drooling over every shot of Sayid, Sawyer or any other man who flexes a muscle. Dave and Neil are perfect gentlemen about the whole thing and draw no attention or comments about these images - men or women. Their combined knowledge of the show is impressive, but based on their season 1 review, they overlook or simply do not understand the mysteries of the island, goals of the antagonists/protagonists, or even who the antagonist and protagonists even are. They joke about this, but the sad part is, they don't really seem to know. Joanna has her favorite characters, and no amount of dialogue will let her see reason. If you just need some noise in the background to kill time, their voices are more or less pleasant, and their banter is relatively funny. But if you want someone who really understands this show, then look elsewhere. They mention another show called "Lost Down the Hatch" so I'm going to see if I can find this.

    Don’t miss this!
Dave, Neil, and Joanna make my Wednesday! Not only do they do a great job of recounting the series both in context of its time and through our contemporary lens, but the community they’ve created around this podcast has provided me TWO escapes. 1) I was in a really dark time having made a bad career move. I found the podcast and felt immediately connected to the three hosts as if they were just three friends talking Lost with me instead of counseling me through my dark time. 2) A worldwide pandemic. Joanna is particularly impactful to me as I too have been accused of being “too much” in my own life and in my career—she demonstrates how we must continue to take up space. I also REALLY appreciate how funny Dave and Neil are—they make really sensitive and potentially problematic situations much more palatable. Never tighten up! Also, when you’re done with Lost, please consider doing a rewatch of THE LEFTOVERS, Breaking Bad, and a million other shows. I’ll pretty much give anything a try that you all want to cover together as a team!

    WE HAVE TO GO BACK
It's currently 2022 and i am sitting here in my car wishing i could turn a weird wheel and go back to the start of this podcast so i could be a storm e-mail contributed because man there's so much to say. Jo Neil and Dave are the friends you can talk to for hours while sometimes you will scream into your car speakers about who should be kissing in the jungle of kisstery (the only answer is john and russo) and yes sometimes they are annoying but so are all of your best friends. i'm only 3 seasons into listening (i've seen the show a few times) and i highly recommend the storm section full of spoilers. that's where the meaty convos take place. i hope the gang decides to do another rewatch like this because i will be there to email my very heartfelt feelings about kisses and tank tops

    My favorite podcast!
I was looking to start a rewatch of Lost and wanted a podcast to go along with it. I am so lucky to have found the perfect one! These hosts are the real deal. I have been having a great time going back and listening to all of these episodes about Lost. They do a great job of balancing hypothesizing and encouraging new theories, and looking back at the history of the show and making sure the information on the podcast is accurate. I can't wait to see what you guys do next-and don't fall down!

Listen for the calm stay for the spoilers.
I thought I should rewrite the review, since I’ve listened to all the calm and now have gone back and listened to a few of the spoilers. This is a good podcast. I’m going to watch Game Of Thrones for the first time so I may go back to the early seasons of this podcast. My criticisms would be that they often spoiled Game Of Thrones without any warning. Maybe just a warning when adding spoilers of other shows. The other is the format. It’s easier to follow a discussion when they take it scene by scene. Last, is just a suggestion, I like the “rewatch” of an old but popular show idea. I think it would have been a bit better if one of the hosts were new viewers too. And also had some diverse opinions about characters everyone loving Kate and hating on Jack got old. As a Jack fan I would have liked at least one host being the Yin to the others Yangs. These hosts are really good though and informative. I followed Joanna from The Boiler Room… so I hope she’ll be a part of whatever they do next.

    The best podcast ever?
Yes. Yes, it is! (Also, I’m from the South East, and I’d be delighted to have that accent impersonated should you read this review! Even though I don’t have that accent myself lol) The only problem I have with this podcast is that I didn’t discover it soon enough. I never got far enough along in my rewatch to have listened every week. 🥲 I started my Lost journey when I was but a wee one at eight years old. It’s a formative part of my childhood, and whether that’s good or bad remains to be seen lol. I watched constantly, and still think that Season 3 is the best season ever. I stopped watching it as it aired about the end of Season 4 I think, and I never got caught back up to watch the until the end. I rewatched in high school but not all the way through, but that was enough to reawaken the love for my favorite TV show. To this day, my biggest regret is not ending my Valedictorian speech with “Namaste, and good luck.”🤦‍♀️ I rewatched it again in college when it was about to be taken off Netflix, so I stayed up until 5 am every night watching it, 😅 but I still didn’t do a full rewatch. Now, I’ve discovered this podcast (in June), and I’ve been listening along feeling like I’m chatting with my friends about quite possibly my favorite fandom to have ever entered. On this rewatch, I’ve discovered an absolute adoration for John Locke, rediscovered my love for James Ford, and love for the fantastic character development this show gives us. I honestly can’t imagine doing this rewatch without the commentary offered here. Neil, Joanna, and Dave offer amazing commentary on the episodes and the show as a whole, they have chemistry that it is unmatched, and they always make me laugh. I know our Lost journey is most likely over on this podcast, but you’ve gained a lifelong listener! Can’t wait to see what you all do next! Hope you all have a wonderful day/week/year/life! I’ll see ya in another life, brother! -Kayla

THIS IS AMAZING I Stan anything Joanna tho
Never would I have imagined watching Lost. Or anything from 17 years ago. But with this continued pandemic, why not? Even with so much content out there, I simply chose this show just to hear Joanna discuss it afterwards. Which is my preferred method of watching anything. Her 2 guys are really good, too. I’m halfway into the first season and I’m loving it. Pros and cons of starting this when you wrapped up. I get to watch about an episode a day so it’s taking me about 2 hours a day to get thru bcus of the pod after. I guess I’m gonna have to go thru 119 storms when I’m done?! Con, I’m bummed they won’t be reading my review on the pod. And I have so many 2004 things (Shannon! Ack!!) I wanted to contribute, too! But I’m just so grateful this pod exists. I hope they do some more old shows. How about the wire? Can’t wait to dive into joanna’s next adventure! Even tho I’ll miss her terribly on VF.

    Great companion podcast
I was young when Lost originally aired but I vividly remember many hating the final episode, this is why I never sought it out. Who wants to get invested just to be disappointed, GOT. But I found the podcast the summer of 2021 and oh wow, why did I wait to watch the show? The island mystery and when it completely becomes a sci-fi show in the 4th and 5th season — woah. The show hosts are extremely great in breaking down what we just watched to keep you interested in the next episode. If I didn’t have this podcast I honestly would have stopped when Mr. Eko died but I’m glad I kept going.

Perfect for LOST Newbies & OGs
This podcast was one of the things that got me through the pandemic. I came across it in March 2020 and was thrilled to discover it was still being recorded. By the time I caught up to the podcasters in real time, not only was I hooked, but I was inspired to become a first-time Patreon subscriber in order to show my appreciation and have a chance to participate in their interactive live watches. I’m a huge LOST fan, having watched in real time before creating my personal tradition of an annual solo rewatch. I had long considered crafting my own syllabus for a Philosophy 101 course to pair with a rewatch in order to see how well the writers wove the theories of Locke, Rousseau, Bentham, Hume, and others into the plot lines for their namesakes, but the fear of massive disappointment kept me from it. This podcast touched on that topic and so many more. The book smarts, emotional intelligence, political savvy, and cultural knowledge of hosts Dave Gonzales, Joanna Robinson, and Neil Miller — with the help of brilliantly crafted emails from friends and fans of the pod — far exceeded my hopes for indulging in my love of LOST with others. Whether you’re returning to the island or diving into LOST for the first time, this podcast is the perfect companion.

Leftover Coq Au Vin is not for breakfast
5 stars podcast! As far as what comes next for the main thread may I suggest something that hasn’t already ended? It’s a tall order, I know. But the speculation is much better when what happened hasn’t already happened.

Is it the best podcast ever?
I’m excited and sad for the close of this podcast - and the rewatching/revisiting of this series. I binged the first five seasons of this on Netflix and caught up to the final season and watched it live. I had mixed feelings on this last season, but ultimately felt like the finale was emotionally satisfying. But in contrast, listening along with these fine humans has been a consistently joyful experience! Joanna, Neil and Da7e have been fabulous guides exploring this show, revisiting all the mysteries, characters and reexamining the context and creators behind it. If you want thoughtful conversation, analysis and more—if for this or whatever storm the hosts chase next, give this podcast a follow! See you in the sideways—hope it’s Coq Au Vin night.

    A great ride
Re-watching LOST with this podcast has been a great ride. The podcast isn’t perfect: the hosts sometimes get so wrapped up in their diversions and “corners“ that they lose track of some truly important moments in the show (for example, they almost completely skipped past my two favorite moments of season five). But the commentary is largely thoughtful and insightful, as well as amusing. And Joanna’s occasional interviews with members of the creative team are terrific. I wish there were more. This is the podcast I look forward to most every week; if that doesn’t merit five stars, I’m not sure what would.

    One of my favorites
I discovered this podcast through the extended Buffering the Vampire Slayer universe and it inspired me to finally watch Lost all the way through during the pandemic. I started by only listening to the spoiler-free Calm section, but I eventually outpaced the podcast and finished the series. I then immediately listened to the whole podcast again, this time including the Storm, and I even joined the Patreon and the wonderful community of listeners on Slack. I love the vibe of this podcast—part critical analysis, part deep lore theorizing, and part goofy conversation among friends. And the hosts are starting to feel like old friends—I love listening to Joanna’s passionate and insightful takes, Dave never fails to crack me up (TIME DADDDDYYYYY!!!!), and I’ve developed quite the crush on Neil, the cool, calm center, who can always be relied on to break the tension when Joanna and Dave’s debates heat up. I can’t wait to hear what show they’ll tackle next!

Come for the theories, stay for the friendship
A great companion to a first timer but even better for a rewatcher. I loved Lost when it aired, and began slowly listening to this pod after GOT wrapped. Then it was March 2020, and I had a lot more time on my hands. I got caught up on episodes and then would anxiously await for the next one to catch up with my friends Jo, Dave, and Neil. While Joanna and Dave’s arguing sometimes feels like my mom and dad fighting, Neil is the calming voice of reason who can make it all better. This show holds a special place in my heart and so does this podcast.

    Doesn’t work for me
Yeah, almost at the end of this podcast and I keep trying but I can’t do it. Why listen to l people who really don’t like the show? The three host continually talk about how they would change Lost. That they could do a better job of writing and producing the show. Although there have been some good discussion and some good guests, mostly I just get upset with their arrogance. Their 2021woken judgements of a 2004 series. Many people like them but for me it just doesn’t work.
  • JMackieL
Great pod with too much bias
There’s so much to love about this pod- the hosts are great, they have fun interviews and spoiler filled discussion at the end of each pod, which I appreciate. Unfortunately their hatred of Jack has kind of soured me on the whole thing. As a Jack fan I feel like they fundamentally misunderstand his character, and their hyper focus on his deficiencies is glaring compared to the way they hand wave those of other characters. It makes for bad Jack discussion but also bad Sawyer, Sayid, Kate, Locke and even Sun discussion. I’m still giving them a four because there’s a lot of good here, I really love the hosts and, despite having to grind my teeth through any Jack discussion, I keep coming back for the things I enjoy. Shout out to Joanna for leading some nuanced discussions, particular the ones about Shannon, one of my early faves.

    Absolutely Love!
I’ve been a big fan of Joanna and Dave from Still Watching and Fighting in the War Room for a couple years now and after hearing about this podcast, I decided it was finally time to give Lost another rewatch. This is my third time rewatching Lost and my first while stopping between episodes and listening to the subsequent podcast episode after. I’m so used to binging shows, but this podcast has forced me to slow down and dissect and appreciate it more. I just finished season one while listening to the podcast and I wanted to get my 5 star review in before you guys finish the series! I’m excited to hear my review in 6 months on the show! 😂 Keep up the great work!
  • Fred3.1415926
    Love this podcast
This podcast has become my most essential weekly listen. I’ve been a huge fan of Lost since it originally aired (fyi, I was 42 when it premiered in 2004!) and had attempted several complete rewatches since, but every time, I couldn’t help myself and ended up skipping ahead to watch my favorite individual episodes. Thanks to the Storm, I’m now wrapping up my first complete rewatch and I’m sad that it’s almost over. I’ve tried other TV rewatch podcasts and have found them largely just rehashes of what happened. The hosts on the Storm do a great job of contextualizing each episode (both in terms of what’s come before, for the “calm” listeners, and what’s still to come, for the “storm” listeners). They strike a perfect balance between clear enthusiasm for the show and reasonable criticisms of its flaws. I look forward to their next rewatch, whatever it turns out to be.

    We Have to Go Back!!
If you know, you just know. And trust me, these folks just get it. Lost has long been my go-to ‘comfort’ tv - I’ve got it going in the background when I’m cleaning, crocheting or just chilling and watching. This show has everything and this podcast is a true treasure. It’s funny and thoughtful, sweet and sarcastic and again, these three just understand that some things are eternal (besides Richard ). Thank you for putting this together and sharing it with us. You’re the Hurley of Lost podcasts. Everyone loves you (and if they don’t, they can hang with Nikki and Paulo). Thanks again!
  • Rickytinnn
    💯
been a fan of all the hosts since the GOT days and follow you all on a few of your podcasting journeys. I hopped off the storm train when you guys started covering LOST since I didn’t have the time to commit (I don’t remember the last time I watched something with 25 ep seasons). BUT the pandemic did gift me raft-loads of time, so I made the leap of faith. You have completely converted me into a full LOST head. I was 8 when the show started airing. TV felt much more like a weekly ritual back then and I find it is so fun to watch and listen to y’all unpack this feast of a show. thank you and see you in another lifetime ♥️

    Time Well Spent
I missed the boat on Lost when it aired. Since then it has been on my list, but I always felt daunted because of what I had heard regarding the show’s density and supposedly disappointing ending. A friend recommended this podcast and I gave it a shot. A few short months later, and I caught up to the podcast and am looking forward to how the show turns out. Keep up the good work and don’t fall down!
