Saving my life, one step at a time
After reluctantly retiring, and not doing a very good job of it, my daily steps dropped to somedays less than 1000. A triple bypass followed and then recovery. But nothing has impacted me more than listening to this podcast and following the suggestions Dave has made relative to ā€œbuildingā€ a longterm plan. I’m now doing an average of 10k steps daily and I have not failed to meet my daily targets for 184 consecutive days. Thank you Dave. I mean that sincerely.

Thank you for being my walking partner
I definitely recommend this podcast, Dave has helped me begin a walking journey, that I commit to make six days a week.

    Thank you!
You have made walking fun! Just 10 minutes I told myself but enjoyed the information and increased the length of my walk. I usually listen to 2 shows. Sometimes I add a different podcast to make my walk even longer!!

    Encouraging
Hi DAVE, I found your podcast about 16 months ago and I love the fact that it’s only about 10 minutes long. I was looking for something to motivate me to take a short walk after supper something I’ve never been able to make myself do. Your podcast is perfect. I’ve done it nearly every day for the last 16 months. Right now I am having some health issues which are not allowing me to do much walking at all, but because of my commitment and your podcast if I don’t do anything else I do use my walker to take at least one ten minute walk every day. Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration.

    Easy motivation
10 minutes…you’ve got that. Dave is a great walking buddy who keeps you engaged with his interesting talks and makes getting movement in easier.

    Great show
I have been listening to your show during my walks for some time now. Your voice is easy to listen to and the easy style is gently encouraging. I have started and had to stop walking several times due to health issues and the pod lets me start again without feeling like I failed before. Thank you.

    Two Year Anniversary!
Found Walking is Fitness 2 years ago and am hooked! Other than a few weeks off for surgery my buddy Dave and I take a walk together everyday. He has motivated me to slide into my 60s stronger and more motivated than ever! Coffees to follow! Ce in NJ

I’ve been listening for over 2 years!
I listen to this podcast when I start my walks every morning. Dave is a great walking partner. Sometimes he talks about research related to walking, and why it is great exercise. Sometimes he talks about things going on in his life. Sometimes he answers listeners questions about this or that. But no matter the topic, he always helps me get off on the right foot (so to speak) in the mornings. Check it out, and join us for a daily walk!

    Best start to my day!
Love listening to your podcasts and watching you walk on your YouTube channel. I find your speaking style soothing, and your wealth of knowledge about the benefits of walking (siting the studies!) refreshing. I am already a very motivated daily walker. Thanks for reinforcing that motivation.

    Daily Dose
When I started fitness walking again back in September after a long layoff, I fell into my old habit of listening to the usual podcasts or music. Most notably, I listened to sports, finance, or news. It didn’t even dawn in me to listen to anything relating to health and fitness. While perusing YouTube one evening looking for some at home fitness tips, I came across one of Dave’s videos. It was short and to the point, unlike the usual drama included in sports or news stories. I started listening to Dave’s podcasts the very next day, and have almost every day since during my daily walks, often binge-listening to past episodes. I haven’t given up sports, news, or financial podcasts, but I’ll usually start my sixty to ninety minute walks listening to Dave’s latest, and maybe one or two from Walking is Fitness’ back catalog. I find they help keep me focused on my goals, as well as a relaxing way to start my walk instead of tuning into the daily drama of the news, sports, or financial markets. Dave provides just one more motivational boost to my daily fitness routine. As Johnnie Walker would say, ā€œKeep Walkingā€.

    Love listening daily!
Great podcast. Really motivating. I have only just discovered it a couple months ago so I started from the beginning. I walk 12000 steps a day and I listen to Dave the entire time! It’s like walking with a friend ā˜ŗļø

Been stair stepping, cycling for years. They’re very good. However, I loss much more weight walking. But, you need to do 10,000 to 12,000 steps a day .if needed take a day off. Can’t overeat, but not as strict as low intensity

    Walking with Dave is Fun
Im on day 104! I can’t believe it. I’m not sure I’ve ever done anything for 104 days straight and it’s thanks to this podcast. My mindset around fitness has done a complete 180, from a ā€œshould doā€, to ā€œhave toā€, to ā€œcan’t wait toā€! His podcast is encouraging, relaxing, funny, informational, and probable any other positive adjective you can think of. I recommend Walking is a fitness to everyone.

    Thank you
I ran across one of your YouTube videos just over a week ago and have listened to about six podcasts since. I used to walk/hike a lot but have grown more sedentary as I approach 60. Your simple messages of encouragement and your passion for walking have gotten me outside walking again and I am trying to build a habit by taking daily 10-minute walks. Once I’ve established the habit I want to increase my walks to at least 7,500 steps (I just watched your video where you cited the research supporting health benefits). Thank you for sharing with us.

    Watch and walk!
This is such a great podcast. It’s really excellent for beginners, though I am a veteran walker, trying to walk 10k steps consistently. Dave speaks in a calm, reassuring manner and it helps me tremendously to focus on walking and remember the great benefits of walking. If you’re reading this, Dave, don’t change a thing! It’s super good.

    Making Walking Easier
Since I’ve discovered Dave’s podcast, I have increased the frequency of my walking. If I ever have a doubt about going out for my morning walk, I think, ā€œDave will be there and I can walk with him.ā€ Thanks, Dave, for your commitment to set an example of walking every day and sharing so we can all talk a walk!

    Love this
I have walked most days for several years. I found this podcast about a month ago. I normally don’t listen to anything while walking but I look forward to this ten minutes every morning. It encourages me to get out and walk even when I don’t feel like it.

    Walking in Recovery
I recently had surgery to remove my bladder and prostate and am starting slow with walking a few times a day. I am not yet at a speed I would call exercise but I feel the difference these little walks are bringing me. Thanks for these episodes to listen to while I do these.

    Learning and walking
Today was my first time listening. You just happened to be in Williamsburg. I thoroughly enjoyed it and tried to envision myself there. You mentioned upcoming retirement planning and I would like to know what podcasts you are listening to to gain some insight. I am on the threshold of retirement too and would love to learn more. Can you please share some titles?

    Simple yet joyful
Thankyou for your the wonderful podcast you do. I have been listening to it and I don’t even realize when 30 minutes go by. You may not even know how much you are helping others. So Thankyou from the bottom of my heart because the days that my depression lets me I walk outside listening to your voice and feeling happy that I achieved something.

    Another trip around the Sun
Heya Dave, you’re hit the nail on the head yet again. Today is my 52nd birthday, so it’s literally a new year for me. Here’s to another year of walking with you. Thank you for your support and dedication. Kamal from Sri Lanka :)

    Thank you Dave
Love the podcast and the motivation. Even in the extreme heat of a Tampa summer, your calm voice helps keep me doing this everyday. Much appreciated!

    Mindset
Mindset is huge in maintaining an exercise regimen. Dave refers to the exercise habit as ā€˜pursuing fitness,’ and I appreciate this mental framing of exercise. This mindset of ā€˜pursuing fitness’ has allowed me to view exercise without an endpoint but as something I do daily. Dave has also given validity to walking and simplified the action of ā€˜pursuing fitness.’ Thank you Dave!!

    Thanks for the weather report
I lived in Pawleys Island for a few years and walked regularly on the beach. My favorite time to walk was when the weather was iffy and nobody else was on the beach like winter. I see Debbie has gone in north of y’all.

    Positively motivating.
Health has been slipping since working from home started at the beginning of Covid. Only getting 2500 steps per day in my day-to-day life got some new shoes and this podcast have been a great help to get me started again. Keep up the great work.
  • Junrey
    Unpretentious
No gimmicks, no hyping up, no flattery, no yapping! Dave makes it SIMPLE every single day. With his calm approach through sharing and story-telling, the 10 minute-walk flies by so quickly without you knowing it.

    WIF Rocks!!!
Dave: Walking is Fitness is exactly what I was looking for to help pass the time during my extended walks this summer. Your soothing voice, calm delivery, simple format, and interesting walking experiences are a great motivator to consistent fitness through walking. Thank you for the time and effort you devote to WIF.

    Great little listen
I love Dave’s always upbeat and short daily message. Especially like his different locations and learning about them. I’ve been walking daily about 5 years (twice daily with my new dog of two years and more time in retirement). Regardless, it’s always helpful to have someone whose nonjudgmental encouragement is there for the taking.

A great way to start my day!
I have been listening now for a couple of weeks Dave and it’s part of morning routine as I walk my dogs. Thank you for what you do and as a fellow daily podcaster I commend you for your commitment to the listeners and I appreciate your dedication. I look forward to walking with you again tomorrow. Grateful
Good Morning Dave, I have been listening to your podcast for about a year, and I enjoy listening to you and what you share. I love to walk because it gives me time to let go and decompress from the daily demands of my profession. Another reason I love to walk is my it is something I do for self-care, since I am always doing things for others. Thank you for all the wonderful stories you share and your positive perspective about life. I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your podcast. Take care, Carol (from California)

    Building a better me.
Dave I’ve been walking for a few years through my neighborhood. Since my dog died I have been going solo for my morning exercise walks and with my wife Linda on our after dinner walks. Having you along has helped me stay consistent with keeping the promise to build my strength and stamina after having 4 back surgeries. I’m 60 and I feel 35! Keep up the good work and thanks for helping me out. Marty

A good friend to walk with
Listening to Dave’s podcast, Walking is Fitness, is like having a good friend to encourage and join you on walks every day. He often discusses an interesting topic, or something about his life, or something he may have noticed one his walk, or just general banter—usually it’s a combination of all of these. This is exactly what I could hope from a walking or fitness partner—a good friend who keeps the conversation going. Glad to have met you, Dave!

    My favorite podcast
I found Dave’s channels on YouTube about a month ago. Being in my mid-50s and struggling with motivation, I find his show to be very helpful. I am walking and biking more since listening and have even started a body weight/calisthenics workout at home. Thank you Dave!

    Walking is Fitness
I’ve been using this podcast on my walks for about two years. Thanks to Dave’s 10 minute podcast, I find it easy to put on my sneakers and go out the door and know that I’ll be walking with someone and learning a little bit about many topics. While I will listen to Dave’s podcast, I try to get to a certain point in my walk in the 10 minutes. If I reach that goal, the place I was trying to get to, then I know that I’ve been walking about a 3 mile an hour pace. I’ve learned so much from Dave and find his podcast not only informative, but entertaining and insightful.
